This “one of a kind”, family owned and operated sailing company based out of the Westin Maui is gearing up to celebrate 35 years in Ka‘anapali!
Sands Dyer and Trey Garnes purchased Gemini Sailing Charters from Gary & Ming Shipp, who began chartering out of the newly opened Ka‘anapali Alii in 1983 with their 50’ Gulfstar, SuperStar, and later with their 73’ schooner, Crystal Anna. They offered day charters and week-long sailing adventures around the islands.
As their family grew, so did their fleet and when the Westin Maui Resort & Spa opened, the Shipps purchased their 64’ luxury beach catamaran and with an expanded crew, Gemini was launched into Ka‘anapali’s Sailing fleet and Gemini has been the only boat since 1992.
Gemini is unique in the industry by having Captains and Crew, who have stayed together for years and it is this legendary crew, along with an efficient and creative management and office team who bring our guests back year after year. Gemini now has repeat guests on every sail…
